VICTOR FIRE

Biography

Victor Fire was born in 1965 in Guruve, the northern town in Zimbabwe, which has seen the emergence of so many talented sculptors, among them Enos Gunja, Ephraim Chaurika, and Wonder Luke, who was one of Victor Fire's inspirational mentors.
This took place, when he began sculpting at Tengenenge in 1987.
Victor Fire's sculptures have a distinct style, which is entirely his own; faces with sharp features, often heads of chiefs. And then a speciality - a number of heads on top of each other - a family for instance.
Victor Fire was awarded the title "Best Sculptor of Zimbabwe" by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe in 2004.
Today, Victor Fire works permanently in Ruwa.
